Job Offer Screenings
Post-Job Offer Screenings involve a systematic assessment of the functional capabilities of potential candidates for the purpose of predicting their ability to perform required tasks safely and productively. When the health, fitness or physical capabilities of an individual are not sufficient to meet the demands of a particular occupation, there is risk of incurring an injury, which results in associated disability costs. As a way of controlling these costs many employers have implemented Post-Job Offer Screening programs to assess the health, fitness and physical capabilities of their employees.
Performing a Job Site Analysis (JSA) / Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) is essential prior to implementing a Post-Job Offer Screening program in order to obtain specific information regarding the essential and nonessential tasks of a specific job. All testing complies with current Ministry of Labour requirements. The Post-Job Offer Screening consists of an accurate and quantitative description of the essential and nonessential demands of the job. The JSA/PDA must include:
-
Frequencies, intensities, duration, weights, measurements etc.)
-
Use of biomechanical, physiological and psychophysical methods of functional testing
-
Isometric and isoinertial whole body strength
-
Testing whole body range of motion
-
Testing work endurance
-
Testing Standing and sitting work tolerance
-
Tolerance (including upper extremity strength testing)
Through implementing Post-Job Offer Screening programs employers can contribute to reduced injury and illness rates, lower absenteeism and improved job performance.
